“He saith unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven.” (Matt 16:15-17)
Many people say Jesus is the greatest leader that ever walked this earth.
Some say He was a great philosopher.
Some say He was good.
Some say He was a great guru.
Some don’t even know what to make of Him.
To some people he was just another prophet.
But who is He to you?
Jesus asked His disciples this same question thousands of years ago.
“Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that the Son of man is?” (Mat 16:13) That same question is still raging today; people are asking who Jesus is? “And they said, Some say John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” (Matt 16:14)
The disciples answered Him by telling Him who everyone thought He was.
Some say you are Elijah,
Some say you are one of the prophets.
Some say you are John the Baptist.
Jesus said to them, “But who do you say I am?”
There was silence as the disciples wondered themselves who Jesus really was.
They like others probably thought of Jesus as one of the prophets. They could not make out who He was.
My question today to you is who is Jesus to you?
Is He everything else to you but the Christ?
Is He everything everyone has said or professed to you?
How much do you know of Him?
Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ”.
He is indeed the Christ, the saviour of the world, the soon coming king,
The one who has takes away the sins of the world.
Who is He to you?
Is He your Christ?
Is He your Lord?
Is He your Saviour?
Is He your King?
Is He your Friend?
Is He your Brother?
This might seem like a difficult question being posed to you today, but until you know who He really is, you will always see Him through the eyes of others, and miss out on the greatest blessings He has for you.
Unless you have a revelation of who He really is, you will miss out on who you were created to be.
Until Peter got the revelation of who Jesus was, Peter was just a follower who saw Jesus from the eyes of others.
Ask God your heavenly father to reveal Him to you today just like He revealed Him (Jesus) to Peter.
“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven.” (Matt 16:17)
You will never know who He is until the father, your heavenly father, reveals Him to you. I pray that God the Father will reveal His Son to you today.
