Reaching The Lost

Jesus said to His disciples, the harvest is in indeed plentiful, but the labourers are few. (Matthew 9:37)

We need labourers in the harvest field, if we are to reach the lost, we need labourers with the heart of Christ. Labourers who know the cry of God’s heart.

John 20:21

As the father has sent me, I also send you.”

5 WAYS TO REACH THE LOST.

1. COMPASSION

We need to start from a place of compassion for the lost. How compassionate are you for the lost? What is compassion? Compassion is having sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others: To have compassion for the lost is emulating Jesus.

In Matthew 9:35-36

35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

How do you see the lost? Jesus saw them as sheep without shepherds and had compassion for them.

2. PRAY FOR THEM

Our prayers will soften our hearts towards the lost and give us a compassionate heart towards them. We are to pray for them so that their spiritual blindfold will be removed from their minds and then they will see the light of the gospel of Jesus. Paul puts it this way.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

We will be more intentional in our fasting and prayers for the lost in 2025.

3. IDENTIFY AND COMPEL THEM

In 2025 let us be intentional in our invitation of the lost to the banqueting table. Where we can let’s invite / bring them to the church services and activities. Let’s show them that they are loved and that they do matter to God.

Jesus tells us in Luke 14:23

23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.

Jesus wants us to go out there and compel the lost. He wants His house to be full. There are over 100 houses on this street, yet we don’t have 10% in the house of God, in 2025 let us go out and compel them to come into the house of the Lord.

4. PREACH THE GOOD NEWS

We are commanded to preach the good news.

In Mark 16:15-16

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Jesus as He was about to return His Father commissions the Church to do exactly what He was sent to do, preach the good news to the world.

And in the book of Romans Paul asks some pertinent questions, they are questions we must not ignore.

Romans 10:13-15

13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?  And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

The 4 important questions.

How will they call on who they don’t believe in?

How will they believe if they have never heard?

How are they to hear without someone preaching?

How are they to preach if they have not been sent?

5. WE ARE HIS AMBASSADORS

We seek the lost because we represent Christ and not ourselves.

Paul tells us in

2 Corinthians 5:20

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

Ambassadors represents their countries, kingdoms or state, they speak for their nations and defend their nations and no one else.

We are the ambassadors for Christ because we have been called to speak of His Kingdom and His goodness.
