The Lord Who Heals You

We are told in Exodus 17:15 after the Israelites victory over the Amalekites that Moses built an altar and called the name of the place "The Lord is my banner" - "Jehovah Nissi".

Scriptures let us into the different facets of who God is and what He is capable of doing.

In Exodus 15 the children of Israel had miraculously crossed the Red Sea. Afterwards they travelled through the desert without water but finally came to a pool of water. They tried drinking but realised the water was bitter, unfit for drinking. In desperation Moses cried out to the Lord who asked Moses to find a branch which Moses did and put in the water. The water was instantly purified and made fit for drinking. Soon after this God spoke to Moses, once again identifying Himself as the healer.

“Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26 AMP)

God did not only turn their bitterness into sweetness, He promised to preserve the children of Israel from illness. He re-affirms this promise again in Exodus 23:25

"..........He shall bless your bread and water, and I will take sickness from your midst" (Exodus 23:25 AMP)

In Deuteronomy 7:14 again He promised to bless and preserve the children of Israel.

“You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. And the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt which you knew will He put upon you, but will lay them upon all who hate you.” (Deuteronomy 7:14,15 AMP)

In looking at our theme for this month "The Lord who heals", I want us to look beyond just the physical healing. The bible tells us that we have a spirit, soul and body and God is concerned about every aspect. He does not just heal the body, He heals the soul and the spirit man.

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

John in the book of 3 John 1:2 prays that Gaius will prosper in all things and be in health, just as his soul prospers.

God's promise was not to heal just one part but the whole man. Hence when Jesus said "it is finished", he was talking about the complete work of restoration for the human race accomplished on the cross.

God did not just promise to heal the Israelites but He was also going to preserve them and prevent illness if they harken to His voice.

So you can claim your healing today. It is yours for the taking.

Call on "The Lord who heals" today, don't give up.
