Mark 11:22-24
“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
When we look at the above scripture without looking deeper one might easily loose the context of what Jesus was saying to His disciples and to every believer today.
When you look beyond the mountains and the seas we can see that in just verse 23 Jesus mentions the word SAY three times.
Whoever says
Those things he says
Whatever he says
As I pondered on this I realized that Jesus was in essence introducing us to the “POWER IN OUR MOUTH”.
Many believers today do not realize how potent their words are. Many do not realize that their words are so potent that they can build up or destroy people.
SNARED - Proverbs 6:2
“You are snared by the words of your mouth;
You are taken by the words of your mouth.”
It is clear from this scripture that we can be snared by what we say with our mouth; in short you can be trapped by the words of your mouth.
SALVATION - Romans 10:10
“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
It is also clear from scriptures that salvation is deliverance from the wrath of God and the power of sin but we are not just delivered by thinking, believing or meditating on it we have to speak it. We believe and we speak it.
LIFE AND DEATH – Proverbs 18:21
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit”
Where is your tongue? In your mouth, and you use your mouth to speak.
Child of God there is power in your mouth. Your mouth is one of the most potent weapons God has given you and Jesus says... “Whoever shall say…” “..Those things he says…”.. and “whatever he says...” Shall be done.
POWER IN THE MOUTH OF GOD – Hebrews 11:3
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
By the Word of our invisible God the whole creation was spoken into being and we are created in His image.
Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
So be rest assured that Jesus knew what He was introducing us to when He said speak to the mountain. We are created in His image and we can speak just as He spoke things into being.
We can speak to change our lives, we can speak to change nations, we can speak to change our community, we can speak blessing upon our homes, our children, our families and many.
Open your mouth and speak, there is power in your mouth. Only believe and it shall come to pass.
