2 Corinthians 10:4
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4 - NKJV)
Our theme for this month is Supernatural Warfare which is in line with the scriptural reference above.
The Bible says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God. Whose weapons, you may ask? It is the believer’s weapons of warfare. The believers’ weapons of warfare are not of this world.
The believers who have been saved, blood washed and who do not walk by the dictates of their flesh. They use these weapons and fight a supernatural battle guaranteed of victory.
The word warfare is the process of military combat between groups it could be two kingdoms fighting against each other. For the believer Ephesians 6:12 says,
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.“
The Bible tells us that we do not wrestle against humans but against unseen enemies. Our weapons of warfare are therefore superior to that of Satan.
They are invincible to the eyes, but potent in application and awesome in their accomplishment. They pull down strongholds; they destroy demonic powers, and set captives free.
God said to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:10,
“See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.”
People of God, we are in a battle whether we like it or not. Our battles are in the heavens and not on this earth.
When your family is attacked; your health is attacked; there is unrest in your home; you have unsaved members of your family defying God's plans for their lives, you can’t just sit pretty and allow the enemy to have a field day. You have to go beyond your natural ability and fight.
Here are 7 of the weapons of warfare that we have been given to benefit from:
1. Faith- Without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is one of our greatest weapons to defeat the enemy our trust in God.
2. The Word of God is our double edged sword to pull down and to plant. The Word of God is powerful, it is alive and it is sharper than a double edged sword - Hebrews 4:12
3. At the name of Jesus every knee bows and tongue confesses that He alone is Lord to the glory of the father.
4. The blood serves as a protection from every plot of the enemy- In the book of Exodus the Lord promised the children of Israel that when He saw the blood on their doorposts, the angel of death will not touch them.
5. Your testimony is a weapon that shuts the enemy up. In Revelation 12:11, we are told that we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of your testimony.
6. Praying in tongues brings confusion into the camp of the enemy because it is only God who understands you - 1 Corinthians 14:2
7. Your praise is a weapon that brings God into the battle field where he sets ambush for the enemy -2 Chronicles 20:22
Don't just sit down. Your heavenly victory will determine your earthly victory. Rise and use that weapon you have been given to bring about change in Jesus’ name.
