1st Samuel 30:1-5
"David and his men reached Ziklag on the third day. Now the Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it, and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way.
When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep. David's two wives had been captured-Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God."
On the 2nd of August 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait, a tiny oil rich country that shared its border with it. Kuwait defence forces were rapidly overwhelmed by Iraqi's army, many were taken captured, some killed and others fled.
Scripture tells us that a small community in Ziklag was invaded by the Amalekites army who destroyed the community and took the women, children, both young and old captive. Ziklag was burnt down and destroyed.
Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that sole purpose of the devil's existence is to steal, kill and destroy.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;..."
When we look at our society today we cannot but see this truth in families, on our streets, in schools, in communities.
In today's world the invasion of our homes is obvious, broken marriages, unruly children, lack of peace in our homes. Young boys and girls as young as 13 hooked on pornography, sex and drugs.
Love is being eroded from families, some parents even live in fear of their children and their spouses.
We all judge and pass blame. Everyone wants to stone the government. The government blames parents, some blame teachers, others blame the media, everyone blames someone.
David was faced with such a dilemma when he returned to his community only to find it destroyed. Wives and children all captured and the people talked of stoning him.
"David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God."
David encouraged himself in the Lord and chose not to blame anyone but do what a good husband or a father will do.
He enquired of the Lord if he should go after the Amalekites. Given the go ahead from the Lord, he pursues the Amalekites and overtakes them, he recovers all that was stolen from him.
1St Samuel 30:17-19
"David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled. David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives.Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back."
What are you waiting for? It is time to invade the camp of the enemy and recover all that the enemy has stolen from you.
Why sit and cry, why lament, why sit down whilst your home is in tatters? Do not blame anyone, arise and invade the camp of the enemy and take back all that has been stolen from you.
We have been given authority to fight the enemy and recover all. Our weapons of warfare are not guns or bombs. They are spiritual armour because our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
"Therefore, take up the full armour of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.…"
Kuwait was finally liberated after a series of failed negotiations between major world powers and Iraq. The United States-led coalition forces launched a massive military assault on Iraq and Iraqi forces stationed in Kuwait in mid-January 1991 and on February 25, Kuwait was officially liberated from Iraq.
Children of God, let the invasion begin.......
