Going Deeper

When we pursue His secret place it is for a purpose. We do not pursue a bus for the sake of pursuit, we do not pursue a train for the fun of pursuit, we pursue for a purpose and to arrive at a destination.

Even on the velodromes for cyclists, the individual or team pursuit is for glory, it is to win a medal.

Jesus said to Peter, "Simon, launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught." - Luke 5:4 (KJV)

Paul the apostle said of himself "Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." - Phil 3:12-14 (KJV)

We may have being pursuing His secret place this year, however if our pursuit is not purpose driven then it is worthless, our pursuit of His secret place is for us to get to a place of deeper relationship with the King.

In Luke 5:4 Jesus said to Peter to “launch into the deep”.

I believe Jesus was saying to Peter, you have been fishing on the surface; I want to take you into a deeper realm, a place where you have never been before; in short, no more surface knowledge. Dig deep; go deeper in your knowledge of God.

Bob Sorge in his book “the secrets of the secret place” has this to say; “The secret place is pursued by those with an eye for enduring spiritual treasure, time spent elsewhere might enable us earn wealth on the earthly plane... Wise people are seekers of God”

Many times as Christians we are happy with that which is of surface level. We are happy being in the outer court, when there is the inner sanctuary and the Holy of Holies. Paul was not satisfied with just his writings and his preaching, he was not just satisfied with his accolades, and he desired more of God. He wanted a deeper knowledge of God.

Going deeper is laying hold of what Christ died for, of why Christ chose you. Going deeper is to bear fruit; bearing fruit that will last, fruit of great quality. Going deeper is to become an intimate friend with the king. Jesus said the master does not divulge His secrets to slaves to but to His friends.

"I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other." - John 15:15-17 (NLT)

This month allow the Holy Spirit to take you and me beyond the outer court, let us become desperate for the Holy of Holies. Go deeper in your quest for the secret place.
