GOD IS NOT A MAN THAT HE SHOULD LIE

Scriptures clearly show us that God is a man of His Word.

There are times that many Christians doubt their salvation, lose hope, lose focus, doubt the promises of God, lose faith in the Word and they give up. Especially when they look at their unchanged circumstances and the situation. They want to throw in the towel.

In book of Numbers 23:19

19 “God is not a man, that He should lie,

Nor a son of man, that He should repent.

Has He said, and will He not do?

Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good

In the world of today when men easily change their words, when people cannot be trusted, when promises are easily broken. It makes difficult for some people to trust or take God at His word. I want to confidently say to you today, that God can be trusted despite what we see or hear.

Scripture shows us that God keeps His word, no matter how dire the situation may be, God never goes back on His words.

Balak the son of Zippor saw how powerful the children of Israel were. He was afraid of them, in fear he decided to get Balaam to curse the children of Israel.

Balaam went to God and asked God for what to do and this was God’s response to Balaam.

Numbers 22:12

12 And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”

Balaam then sent a message back to Balak that he was not coming because God has refused to give him permission to come to him and curse the children of Israel.

Balak insisted and promised to give Balaam more money and positions and Balaam decided to go to Balak and curse the children of Israel. It was during this journey that God intervened and spoke sternly to Balaam.

In numbers 23:20, we hear Balaam declaring that God is a man of His word

Behold, I have received a command to bless;

He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

God has blessed you and no one can reverse it.

Titus 1:2

2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,

This is the hope that we have, that we serve a God who cannot lie. His word can be trusted. You can trust God no matter what. None of His promises has ever failed.

Joshua said to the Israelites

Joshua 23:14

14 “Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.

1 Kings 8:56

"Blessed be the LORD, who has given rest to His people Israel according to all that He promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises He made through His servant Moses.

Joshua 21:44-45

44 And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel had failed; everything was fulfilled.

God is not partial, scripture says, “He is the same, yesterday, today and forever”

If none of the Lord’s good promises to the Israelites failed, why should it fail today in your life. Scripture tells us that we are children and heirs of God and if that is who we are then we are also partakers of His promises.

In the 66 books of the bible there are over 5000 promises, based on God’s word. For you and I to understand and appropriate those promises we will have to read His Word.

2 Corinthians 1:20

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

The Christian life rests on a foundation of God’s Promises and we can trust everything that God has said to us in His Word. His Word is truth, faithful, loving and all powerful.

The writer of the book of Hebrews gives Abraham as an example of God’s faithfulness to His promises, even though it took 25 years   for it to be fulfilled. Abraham trusted and waited for God

Hebrews 6:13-18

13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. 17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

In conclusion, I submit to you that God is a man of His Word. Wait and hope and He will show up at the right time.
