Digging deep and launching into the deep is going beyond the status quo. It is going away from the way you have always done things. We see in the bible that Jesus always went beyond the status quo of His time. Why don’t you go beyond the expectations of people? They expect you to fail – be a success in what you do.
They expect you to remain dependent on them, you go ahead and be a blessing. They do not expect anything good to come from you, go ahead and be blessing anyway.
One of Jesus’ disciples said this of Him - John 1:45-46
“Philip went to look for Nathanael and told him, “We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.”
“Nazareth!” exclaimed Nathanael. “Can anything good come from Nazareth?”
Jesus was from Nazareth and nothing good was expected to come out of Nazareth, today the whole world talks about Jesus; the product of Nazareth. Why don’t you be who God says you are? The deeper you dig, the more you will discover who God created you to be.
What is a Status Quo?
Status quo is a Latin term meaning the existing state of affairs.
There are many people, who will prefer for things to remain the same because they are comfortable with things the way they are. No one ruffling their feathers, no one challenging their actions. There are many who will rather remain in slavery than go through the wilderness experience to a place that flows with milk and honey.
Ex 14:10-12,
“As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord, and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt? Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’”
The children of Israel would rather die in slavery than discover their potential, they would rather die in slavery than conquer their fear. Do not allow your fears stop you from digging deeper and launching into the deep.
CHANGE
Going beyond the Status Quo means you have to change. Without a meaningful change there can be no fruit, there can be no growth, only stagnation. Stagnation breeds frustration, it breeds depression, it breeds all kinds of negative emotions.
When there is no desire to change, when there is no desire to succeed you will always remain in that place of status quo. When there is no desire to come up higher you will always remain where the enemy wants you to be a slave to failure. A slave to sickness, A slave to Porverty, A slave to insufficiency.
WHERE YOU ARE IS NOT WHERE GOD WANTS YOU TO BE.
Where you are currently, is not where you are meant to be. But you have become so scared to move forward, you are too scared to dig, scared to launch deeper.
You have become too accustomed to your circumstance and paralysed by it. You are too scared to confront that situation because it is an issue that has bothered you for year and you have given up.
John 5:5-7,
One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years.6 When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”
Jesus wants you to heal you, but some like this man. For 38 years had sat at this pool and become indifferent to the situation. The pool of Bethesda meaning the place of kindness, the place of grace, but for 38 years this man sat there on his mat waiting for someone to put him in the pool when the angel of the lord stirred the pool. When Jesus saw him, and knew he had been paralysed for a long time Jesus approached him and asked him if he wants to be made well.
All this man needed to say to Jesus was “YES” instead the many years of pains and bitterness steps in..
“Nobody likes me”
“Everybody looks down on me, because I am different”.
“My parents left me when I was young”
“Life is so unfair...”
“There is no one to carry me and put me in the pool.......”
“Someone else gets there before me....”
Stop giving excuses.
Jesus wants to heal you – Just answer yes and stop giving excuses, Jesus wants to meet you at the point of your needs. Just say yes. That is not where you are meant to be... You have been there too long it is time to get up and run... It is time to be a blessing rather than always waiting for someone else to bless you...
YOU HAVE TO LET GO and LET GOD
There comes a time in our lives when we have to let go of what we have held on to for so long as a norm, things that have hindered our progress.
Things like fear, self-doubts, mistrust, prejudice, pride and limiting oneself.
DIGGING DEEP IS TO LIVE A LIFE WITHOUT LIMITATION.
Those who dare to dig deep and launch into the deep, will live a life without limitation. The bible says in Mark 9:23
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”.
Also, in Matthew 17:20 says
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
It is only when we believe what God says, that we can escape from the human realm to the spiritual realm. Peter would never have experienced such a massive catch, if he only stopped at “We have toiled all night”.
He had to go beyond “We have toiled all night” to “nevertheless at your word”. Many believers stop at the “toiled all night” syndrome but Jesus wants you to go deeper.
When our faith in whatever God says come alive, we will go past the state of status quo. We cannot touch the spiritual realm and change our situation and circumstance, if we do not go beyond the way things have been done before. Some of us still operate in the natural realm it is time to come up higher.
This year 2018 draw a line in the sand and say I will launch into the deep at the word of Jesus, I will launch into the deep.
