Over the years I have seen some Christians give up as they wait and believe God to break through for them in their circumstances.
I must confess I myself have been at the point of giving up on some important things that I had believed God. With pressure from all sides, I have become discouraged and afraid, and almost given up or even given up in some areas.
I have come to realise that many give up long before the day they actually physically give up. They give up mentally long before they actually voice it out.
When the children of Israel were sandwiched between the red sea and the Egyptian Army, they said to Moses “is this not the word we told you in Egypt”
“Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” (Exodus 14:12)
The children of Israel had given up long before they got to the Red Sea. They had created a mental defeat and it did not really matter what happened they would have said the same thing to Moses, because they had given up long before the Journey.
When people have been hurt, disappointed, betrayed in any shape of form they build a safety mechanism around themselves so they never get hurt again.
Yet this mechanism becomes a snare and a source of offence which debars their progress. They fail to trust, they fail to be part of anything that involves people or do anything that might cause pain or disappointment again.
The children of Israel after 430 years in slavery had become disillusioned, sarcastic, and had lost hope and faith in the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Deuteronomy 7:8
“But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.”
God had brought the children of Israel out of Egypt with a mighty hand, but having been in slavery for hundreds of years, they had become accustomed to slavery and stagnation.
Their deliverance was still viewed with doubts. I don’t know if you are in the same place as the children of Israel. You have allowed your situation to define your progress.
Like the children of Israel, you have lost your vision, you have lost your aspirations, your dreams, and the promises of God have become lost in your circumstances.
God said to the children of Israel to stop crying and whining but to “GO FORWARD”.
You might ask forward to where? To your promised land, to your victory, to your breakthrough, to your deliverance, to your destiny in God.
God said to Moses in verse 15 of Exodus 14:
“And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.”
Child of God, stop crying and go forward.
Whatever you are going through right now is not bigger than your God.
God is waiting for you to move from your place of despair, your place of disappointments, the place of frustration, the place of offence, the place of failure, and step forward into what He has in store for you
Stop crying and go forward, the red sea is waiting to be parted for you to go through. If you choose to remain where you are and not go forward, you will never know what God is capable of doing for you.
Trust God and GO FORWARD.
