Devotional 2018 - Week 39

Genesis 26: 1- 5 (NKJV)

Genesis 26: 12 - 14 (NKJV)

Genesis 26: 23 - 24 (NKJV)

“There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar. Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”

Devotional 2018 - Week 38

Psalm 34: 17-18 (NIV)

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.  The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

In the midst of our troubles and our pain, when we call out to God he hears us. He sees our tears and our sorrow. He knows and cares about our suffering. God is able to see us through our turmoil.  God works in his time which may not always line up with our time.

Devotional 2018 - Week 36

Psalm 37: 27-29

"Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.  For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.  The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.

We are commanded by God to do good here on earth.  If we fail to do good and operate with the right heart, there will be consequences.  The Lord loves those who do right and He will never leave or forsake them. There will be times the righteous may feel overlooked, used, weary, unloved but God loves them. He sees all they do and will reward them accordingly whether here on earth or in heaven.  We must be willing to walk the walk even when there is no acknowledgement or recognition as we do it unto God and not man.
