Refreshing Words

Refreshing words include articles about lifestyle, spirituality, marriage & relationships, parenting and weekly devotionals.

We pray that your spirit will be refreshed as you read these words and as you allow God to minister to you through them.

Devotional 2018 - Week 30

Proverbs 4: 20-27 (NIV)

"My son, pay attention to what I say;  turn your ear to my words.  Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;
for they are life to those who find them
 and health to one’s whole body.  Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all  your way.  Do not turn to the right or the left;keep your foot from evil."

Being Christians we must regularly read the Bible for guidance on how to live our lives. It is our responsibility to prioritise time within our sometimes busy schedule. It is impossible to walk in fruitfulness and righteousness when we do not live by God's standards.  We can only do so if we know what God expects of us. The Word of God brings healing, understanding, knowledge, wisdom and comfort. The Word fills us anew and keeps us on the correct path.

Devotional 2018 - Week 28

Matthew 5: 13 - 16 (NIV)

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

We are called to shine as women of God. We are called to do God's work as He has equipped us.  In order to impact on our environment we must shine our light glorifying God in all we do. For many we are the closest to Jesus they will get and it is of utmost importance we reflect His goodness, His mercy and His love.

Devotional 2018 - Week 26

John 14: 27 (NIV)

"All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

When Jesus left this earth he promised his disciples that though he would be departing, The Holy Spirit would be with them. At this time the disciples were anxious and worried. Jesus tried to put their minds at ease, giving them comfort. Amidst the chaos and calamity in this world, God brings peace and love. We can trust Him with our everything as He will never fail us. When we face challenges and times of uncertainty, God brings stability, understanding and comfort.
