Devotional 2018 - Week 34

Psalm 34: 17 - 20 (NIV)

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.   The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

When we face challenges and feel disheartened with life we must console ourselves with the fact that God hears our cries and sees our tears. He knows the pain that we endure and the disappointment we feel when life goes in a different direction than expected. When we move away from God due to the pain we are experiencing, He would like to remain close to us. To wipe our tears and provide us with the comfort and love we need.

Devotional 2018 - Week 33

Proverbs 11: 14 – NKJV

"Where there is no counsel, the people fall;
But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety."

Proverbs 24: 6

"For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

For believers in Christ, we are privileged to have the person of the Holy Spirit has our ultimate counsellor. This is an awesome gift we have that sets us apart from those who have not surrendered their lives to Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

Devotional 2018 - Week 32

John 16: 32-33 (NIV)

“A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

In this scripture Jesus is preparing his disciples for his departure from the world. He tells them the challenges will come as he knew the wicked world we live in; that they would face trials and tribulations.  In the midst of our troubles and many of us can testify to having them, God is with us. He is our comforter even when we feel alone, misunderstood and confused. When we do not have the solutions we know we have God.  When we are unsure which way to go we know we can call out to God and declare we are helpless and need him.
