Genesis 26: 1- 5 (NKJV)
Genesis 26: 12 - 14 (NKJV)
Genesis 26: 23 - 24 (NKJV)
“There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar.2 Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. 3 Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. 4 And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; 5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
“12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. 13 The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; 14 for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him.”
23 Then he went up from there to Beersheba. 24 And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”
Our Bible verses for this week reveal a certain truth to us. That our actions today can activate covenant promises, and release blessings for our children tomorrow.
Abraham obeyed God, and as a result his descendants were blessed. The generations after him benefited as a result of his obedience to God.
The seeds of obedience we sow today will surely produce a harvest of blessing in the generations to come. So, let us be mindful to live a life of obedience to God. It might not seem the most glamourous thing to do now. To go the way God calls us to or live according to His Word might seem so hard, but I tell you it will it will yield good things for your children and my children in the days to go. Leave a legacy of having obeyed God and your children even after you have departed, will call you blessed.
On the other hand, if we choose to sow the seed of disobedience, we do the next generation a great dis-service. We short change and deprive the generations after us of a great legacy that God remembers for good. A legacy of obedience and submission to Him. Why? The evil that men and women do live after them.
My dear sister, let’s chose today like Abraham did and set in motion the activation of God’s covenant blessings in the life of our descendants and the generations to come.
Abundant grace to you in Jesus name….
