Devotional 2018 - Week 34

Psalm 34: 17 - 20 (NIV)

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.   The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

When we face challenges and feel disheartened with life we must console ourselves with the fact that God hears our cries and sees our tears. He knows the pain that we endure and the disappointment we feel when life goes in a different direction than expected. When we move away from God due to the pain we are experiencing, He would like to remain close to us. To wipe our tears and provide us with the comfort and love we need.

God remains close even when we believe he is very far away.  He is able to lift us out of our pain and turmoil and give us hope when we truly feel there is none.

Though we will have trials and tribulations, God will deliver us from them. Yes, there may be an element of enduring for weeks, months, and in some circumstances years. God cannot promise to instantly remove us from our circumstances but he will be right by our side. He will walk with us through the valley and see us through to the other side.

God is our protector. He has our best interests at heart. He cares about whatever affects us spiritually, physically and emotionally.  He will never leave us nor forsake us just as the bible states.

Choose to spend regular quality time with God; at times you may speak and pray and at others you may choose to sit or lay in silence. The important factor is you prioritise God with a deep understanding that you need Him in your life.
