2 Timothy 1: 7 (NIV)
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
When we became Christians, we became new in Christ and at one with Christ. Though we may not have physically felt so, we received power in order to speak life over our challenges and situations, power to overcome and power to walk along the path God had laid for us. In our weakness Christ makes us strong. The fact we may not feel particularly strong or resilient does not mean we have no power, it simply means we have not fully understood the fullness of God's word and are not yet walking in all He has called us to.
God has given us love, unconditional love. In this unconditional love we receive from Him, we are in turn able to love others. Love conquers all, love forgives and brings acceptance. We cannot claim to love God and choose not to love others. Where we are struggling to forgive we can ask God to help us. We can choose to show love to the person, to pray for the person; that God will not only change their heart but bless them in their life.
We must also walk in self-discipline, willing to obey God's word. We must hold ourselves accountable and be willing to be accountable to God and church senior leadership. Self-discipline includes carrying out responsibilities consistently at work, church and home even when it becomes challenging. It means "showing up" even when you would rather do anything but. It means doing the right thing whether anyone is looking or not. It means ploughing through until you receive the outcome you desire.
Let us walk in a godly boldness remembering who we are in Christ. In Him we have strength to do all things.
