2016 - Week 20

2016 - Week 20

Philippians 2: 14-15 (NKJV)

“Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.”

James 5: 9 (NKJV)

“Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!”

1 Peter 4: 9-10 (NKJV)

“Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

1 Corinthians 10: 6-10 (NKJV)

“Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, 'The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.' Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.”

Our Bible verses for this week speak to us about not murmuring, complaining and grumbling.

The reality is that there will always be situations around us, people close to us and challenges facing us that will cause us to want to murmur, complain and grumble. God does not want us to grumble or murmur against him or others whatever the circumstances are.

Grumbling, complaining and murmuring against God and others produce negative results in our lives. The children of God murmured against God after he had brought them out of bondage from Egypt. The result is that those who did this died in the wilderness and never saw or entered the promised land.

Miriam, Moses’ sister, murmured against her brother Moses in Numbers 12 and she became a leper. Thank God for His mercy in response to Moses cry “please heal her, O God I pray”.

In 2 Samuel 6 verses 20–23, we read the story of Michal, Saul’s daughter and David’s wife. She murmured and grumbled against God and as a result the Bible states “Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death”. Let us be wise women who learn from these examples and make the right choices.

Remember sisters, we glorify God, show ourselves to be His children and are a beacon of light when we don’t give in to the temptation to grumble, complain and murmur.

More grace for obedience to you and I, on this journey of becoming more like Christ… Be blessed.
