James 1: 5-8 (NIV)
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do."
Godly wisdom has little to do with intelligence as the world views it. It is not based on qualifications, a person's profession or social status. It is God given to those who ask with the right heart and can be trusted to do good with it.
We require wisdom to walk as God intended us to; in love, in grace, in patience and in boldness. Where we are lacking, we can ask God to fill us up. God is able to do all things once our heart and motive for asking aligns with His Word. Our need for wisdom should be because we want to fulfil the purpose God has for us, because we want to make the correct choices for ourselves and our family members
Whatever seems right and logical to us may not necessarily be what God intends for us. For this reason we need to be in tune with The Holy Spirit to have discernment and clear direction on which path to take. In some circumstances God may ask us to be still. Our flesh may want to take action of some kind but in obedience we should do right by God.
When we ask God for wisdom we must believe we will receive it and refrain from looking to our own abilities. We must accept that though we have limitations, it is God who works through us to do the impossible. If we doubt God He will not grant us what we have asked for. Let us humble ourselves and ask God to grant us wisdom to know which way to go. Whether we are making decisions regarding our families, within our professions, our calling or in church ministry we require godly wisdom.
