Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 (NKJV)
"To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace."
There is a time for everything!! God has ordained that time is set for everything that concerns us His creation, including a time to be born and a time to die. There is a season for that which we consider good, and a time for that which we consider not so good. There is a time of joy and a time of sadness. The good times we understand and embrace but the bad times are a struggle that perplex us.
Our verses of scripture this week are there as a reminder that there are set times for certain things in our lives. There are times we cannot escape. We need by the help of God the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God to recognise and understand what season and time we are in. When we understand what season and time we are in and embrace it, life will become easier.
My sister, whatever season God in His wisdom has placed you in right now is the best season for you. It might not be what you want, but He knows what is best for you. He will ultimately work everything together for your good as a believer in Christ, and use it for His glory if you trust in Him with you whole heart.
There was time in my life where I so desperately wanted to move out of the season I was in, but the Lord did not allow it. It was a dark time filled with pain, tears, frustration and impatience. When I look back now, I see that God was working on me and preparing me for the next season of my life.
There was also a year where everything I touched prospered like never before. Long lost dreams were fulfilled and accomplished. Things went well beyond my wildest dreams. That was another season. How sweet it was, I wanted it to last forever.
What season are you in right now?
Are you a single lady waiting for a life partner to show up?
Are you a married woman waiting to see your husband become saved?
Are you in a season where you are awaiting the return of a prodigal son or daughter?
Are you in a season of dealing with sickness within your family?
Are you in that season of trying to make ends meet financially?
God says there is a season and a time for everything. Your present season will not last forever. Weeping may endure for a night but joy will surely come in the morning.
If you are in great season now, things are going well and you are loving it, praise God! You have every right to be in that season because God has put you there. Enjoy it without feeling guilty or apologising for what God has so graciously allowed you to enjoy.
However, when the next season and time comes along, don’t give up on God because it doesn’t seem as sweet a time as the last season was. Do you get it?....
Grace to you my sister!
