Devotional 2017 - Week 20

Ecclesiastes 3 vs 1-8 (NKJV)

"To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace."

Ephesians 5 vs 15-16 (NKJV)

"See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

Time is so important that God gave each one of us TIME. The same amount of time. The Bible tells us that there is a time for everything. A time appointed for everything. For every purpose here on earth, there is a time. It is therefore important that we understand the times and seasons God appoints so we can use our time wisely.

Time is such a precious commodity that once time is lost we cannot regain it back. We therefore need to be time conscious, Jesus is coming back soon. Your time is more valuable than money. Time is too precious to be wasted. We must guard our time jealously. We must not joke with our time but treat our time with respect. We must plan our time. When it is gone, it is gone. So, use your 24 hours with purpose.

Practically how can we manage our time? Why note rise early like the Proverbs 31 woman. Start your day early. Never be idle. Schedule your time. Put things down in a diary. Learn to accept help and delegate. Take time out to rest, have a break, and be rejuvenated. Get rid of procrastination. It is the greatest time and destiny stealer. Don’t be lazy over the things you don’t like doing but know you have to do. Prioritise what is important. Plan and prepare ahead so you can be one who has good time keeping skills.

Today why not take time to evaluate the usage of your time. Take a moment to take stock and see how your time is being used. Use your time with God’s wisdom. Treat your time with awe. Don’t waste time on things that do not matter and are of no profit. Pray that God will help you to manage and use your time judiciously. Let today be a new day and a new beginning with your time usage. You will be amazed what difference it will make in your life and the life of others.

Grace to you on this journey of becoming an excellent time manager, one like the Proverbs 31 woman. Shalom…
