Devotional 2017 - Week 19

Isaiah 43: 1-2 (NKJV)

"But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you."

Daniel 3: 19–27 (NKJV)

"Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore, because the king’s command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them."

My prayer is that our Bible Scriptures this week will bring you hope and encouragement. We have a sure promise from the Lord that no matter what we His daughters are going through now, or will go through in the future, He is with us now, and He will be with us in the future.

Sometimes we go through difficult, gruesome trials not of our own fault or our own doing. Sometimes we go through what can only be described as the “fiery furnace” and it seems we are going to be consumed by it. Let’s be encouraged by the story of the three Hebrew boys in Daniel. They did not do anything wrong before God, but they were ear-marked for destruction. Being a child of God, our adversary satan targets us for destruction, but no matter what might come our way, Jesus is with us. When we go through the “waters” and the “fire”, He is in it with us, keeping us from being submerged by the “waters” and “burned” by the fire. If you are in the fire right know, I have good news for you, Jesus Our Lord is in it with you and he will keep you and bring you out in His timing and in His way. If you are not in a fire right now, be rest assured He will be in it with you if one happens to come along in the future.

Beyond the fact that He is with you, He will use that fire you go through to test you, shape you, refine you, cause your faith to be made stronger, and take you to the next level in your journey with Him. This however will only happen if you allow Him to do so by submitting to the workings of the Holy Spirit while you are going through the “waters” and the “fire”. The three Hebrew boys did not fight, kick, scream nor take the law into their hands. They knew their God and knew He was bigger than the “fiery furnace” or Nebuchadnezzar.

Dear Sister with Jesus beside you in the fire, you are more than a winner. He will fight for you, He will bring you out, and He will deliver you. Stand still and you will surely see the salvation of the Lord. Stay strong, He loves you and His with you 24 /7.
