2 Timothy 2:4-5 (NKJV)
"No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules”
Dear sisters, we are daughters of the King, princesses, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people, but guess what, we are also soldiers in the Army of God. This might be a little difficult to understand but our scripture reference this week makes it clear that in the Kingdom of God, we are not civilians but soldiers.
Civilians in this context concern themselves primarily with the things of this world, the mundane things in God’s eyes, the things that are temporal, worldly pursuits and pleasures. They get so wrapped up with these that they have no time or energy left to serve and please their commander in chief, God almighty. Civilians go for a life of ease and comfort and run away from the rigours of being a soldier in the Army of God.
Precious woman of God, yes God calls us to live in this world but not be of this world. Yes we have to live in this life like everyone else but most importantly we are called to live unto our God has a disciplined soldier. That will mean us rising from our comfort zone, taking orders from Him and obeying him when convenient and not convenient.
It will mean realising we are in a battle as we live this life and rising up to fight. It will mean we become the violent who rise up and take what God calls us to take by force. It will mean rising up in, and engaging in spiritual warfare with all the weapons of our warfare. It will mean not being lazy, but hardworking.
We are that army that God calls to fight for our family, our church, and our community, the salvation of lost souls and for the Kingdom of God to be enforced on earth as it is done in heaven. So dear sister rise up as a soldier of the most high God and take you place. You will never regret it and God will be pleased. Get ready, set, go......
