2 Corinthians 4:7 (CEV)
“We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us.”
2 Timothy 1:14 (MEV)
“Guard the treasure that was committed to you through the Holy Spirit who lives in us."
Dear sisters, do you know that a treasure was committed to you? Do you realise that there is a treasure in you? We are ordinary people, but we have something extraordinary in us – the life of God.
That treasure in us is very precious and we are called to guard it carefully. How do we guard it? I believe the real question is not “how do we guard it?” but do we see it as a treasure? Because if we recognise that the life of God in us is a treasure, we will automatically treat it and guard it as a precious treasure.
Remember the story of the man who found a great treasure buried in a field one day. He knew the value of this treasure. No one had to tell him how precious it was. So he sold all he had so he could buy that field, just so he could get hold of the treasure.
Do we know the value of the treasure within us? This treasure is worth more than all our earthly possessions. It is worth more than anything we could ever pay for it; more than our very lives...
Unlike that man in the parable this treasure came free to us, but let us not treat it as cheap! Let’s value it, cherish it, thank God for it, be ready to give up everything else for it. As we honour Jesus Christ in us as the treasure that He is, we can be confident that this treasure in us will become more and more apparent to others.
