Luke 8: 1-3 (NKJV)
“Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.”
Mark 16: 1–11 (NKJV)
“Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and
anoint Him. Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. And they
said among themselves, 'Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?' But when they looked up, they saw that
the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe
sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.
But he said to them, 'Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the
place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see
Him, as He said to you.'
So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they
were afraid.
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.
She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. And when they heard that He was alive and had been
seen by her, they did not believe.”
To whom much is given, much is expected. For those of us who have given our lives to Him, we can testify that the Lord has done
so much for us. We were dead in our sins but He rescued us. We were in deep bondage but He delivered us. We had no identity, He
gave us His identity. We were on our way to hell, but He rescued us and has gone to prepare a mansion for us in heaven, so that
where He is, one day we shall be too. He has loved much and He calls us to love much in return.
Mary Magdalene was a woman like us. She was possessed by seven demons but the Lord Jesus delivered her of seven evil spirits.
Her life was changed forever. What was her response to His love for her? She became sold out to Him. She ministered to Him and
provided financial support. She was there at His crucifixion. She was a witness at His burial. She returned to the tomb to
anoint His body with spices. The result of all of these is that she was privileged to speak with the angel of the Lord at His
tomb after the resurrection. She was first to witness the resurrected Lord. She had the honour of testifying of the Lord’s
resurrection to the unbelieving disciples. Ladies, Jesus is the real deal, there is no other I can assure you. Let’s fix our
eyes on Him, live for Him and give our all to Him every day. We will find true purpose and contentment in doing so.
If you are yet to surrender your life to Him, He loves you so much and is yearning to have a pure relationship with you, like
Mary Magdalene had with Him. He wants to save, heal and deliver you. In this Easter season, we remember the price He paid for
mankind in dying for each one of us. He not only died but He rose from the dead on the third day and obtained victory for us
all. This is a good time to surrender your life completely to Him like Mary Magdalene did and begin to live a life of true
fulfillment. Happy Easter!
