Proverbs 6: 6 - 11
6Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, 7 Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, 8 Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. 9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep— 11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.
I read this a little while back and said to myself, Folake consider the ant, it has no captain, ruler or overseer over it. It has no one in charge of it, no father, no mother, no uncle, no Pastor, no authority over it, yet it provides all supplies needed for itself. It works to gather all it needs for every season of the year.
I read this and said to myself, Folake don’t be lazy. Don’t sleep when you should be working. Don’t sit down and fold your arms when you should be at work. If you do, poverty and need will be your experience.
God is speaking to you as well by His Word and saying look at the ant and learn from the ant. The ant is wise so go learn some wisdom from the ant. What can we learn? First, not to wait for others to motivate us and encourage to do the things we should do. We should be self-motivating and pro-active. Taking initiative and not waiting on others to prod us on or pull us up. Second, to work hard to provide for ourselves and others. Not to rely on or expect others to. Hard work is good and God expects us to work hard. When we work hard in the way God wants us to, results abound. Third, not to oversleep. Sleep is good and God gives His beloved sleep, but we are not to oversleep. Don’t love sleep too much. Fourth, not to be slothful or lazy. Rather work hard that you might be able to be a blessing to others who have need.
This applies at work, in our businesses, in the Kingdom of God, as long as we her in good health and alive there is no room for laziness. Let’s learn from the example of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31. Let’s not allow excuses to stop us from hard work.
I pray that poverty that comes from been lazy and slothful will never be ours in Jesus’ name. I pray that prosperity and abundance will be ours in Jesus name Amen!
