Devotional 2017 - Week 40

2 Timothy 3: 16-17 (NKJV)

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Scriptures are contained in the world’s all time best seller – The Holy Bible. They are God’s Word to us His creation. Our Bible verses today are absolutely clear in making us understand that ALL scripture is given by the inspiration of God for our profit. The Living Bible version puts it like this:

"The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone."

The Amplified Bible version puts it this way:

"All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work."

So we see that the whole Bible, both the Old and New Testament books have been given to us by God to help us to be who God has called us to be. We need the whole of the scriptures, every book, chapter and verse, if we are to become fully furnished and equipped Disciples of Christ. We are not look down on any part of the Bible or discount any part of it. God did not inspire the scriptures to be written for them to be done away with. God forbid that we His people do away with His Word, any part of it. Sometimes there are parts of the Bible we don’t understand or even like. Rather than refusing to read or study them. Never look down on any part of God’s Word. Never despise it. Instead we should ask the Lord to give us understanding and knowledge, and illuminate our minds as we look into His engrafted Word. Let’s embrace the whole of God’s Word so we can become fully balanced Christians, empowered to fulfil God’s plan and purpose for our lives.

A balanced physical diet will contain of vegetables, fruits, grains, proteins, dairy food. If in the physical you and I only eat one or two of these foods every time, we will become deficient in our nutritional diet and open ourselves to the risk of various sickness and ailments. In the spiritual it is the same, we also need a full and balanced diet that we can only receive when we embrace all of God’s Word. All of God’s Word, the scriptures is good for us. They are what we need in this world we live in. Every part of the scriptures is useful for us. They are good enough to take care of every area of our lives and every circumstance.

So start this week by delving into the whole of the Scriptures. Read the whole Bible book by book. Study and embrace fully the whole of the scriptures so that you become a matured disciple of Christ, bringing glory to The Father and being a blessing to mankind. One more thing, remember to thank Him for His beautiful Word every time. You know why, ALL scriptures contained in The Bible are absolutely PRICELESS.

Grace to you…
