Matthew 5 :13 – 14 (NKJV)
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
From the moment we became born again, we became God’s seasoning to the earth. We are saved by Christ to go forth and “season” our homes, our families, our work places, our schools, business, neighborhoods, communities and every place on earth God allows us to be in. Just as salt makes a difference to food that is bland and tasteless, we are to make a notable difference and stand out wherever God places us.
Is this my testimony and your testimony today? If not, it might be that we are losing our godly flavor. The seasoning that we are, is becoming stale. We are beginning to compromise and blend in with the darkness around us. We need to guide against this passionately.
At work, at home or when with friends, extended family members and neighbors, we are to be God’s light shining brightly in the midst of the darkness. We must visibly show forth the light of Christ that is in us. We do this in the way we live our lives – through our attitudes, words, actions, behavior and character. The question is do these areas of our lives beam the light of Christ to all around us?Do people see us and “know we have been with Jesus”?
My sisters the testimony of our lives lived out every day can draw others to Christ and point them to the God who loves them and He gave His only Son for them.
Why not choose today to visibly stand out as ambassadors of Christ shining brightly every day. Then the world around you and I will see and stand in awe of the God in us, and bow before Him.
