Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
“Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”
God’s Word is a lamp to our feet, to guide us and direct us in everyday living and decision making. These verses of scripture encourage us to meditate on God’s Word day and night, to do / obey God’s Word, and then enjoy His fruitfulness, prosperity and success.
To meditate is to focus our minds on God’s Word, to ponder over His Word, to think about it, to reflect on it, to muse over it, to consider it. Meditating on God’s Word everyday will help us to obey Him more easily and become doers of His Word.
However, before we can do any of this, we must get into the regular habit of reading God’s Word first, studying it, and hearing it. Then we can mediate on it and obey it. Reading, studying and meditating on God’s Word day and night, in the morning and in the evening, on a regular basis will help plant God’s Word in your heart and mind. It will change your thinking and replace wrong thinking with God’s way of thinking. You will be fruitful and enjoy God’s prosperity and success. Dear sister, why not start on the journey of regular reading and meditating on God’s word in the morning after you wake up, and in the evening before going to bed? May God’s grace strengthen you to do so this week in Jesus name. Amen.
