Devotional 2018 - Week 28

Matthew 5: 13 - 16 (NIV)

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

We are called to shine as women of God. We are called to do God's work as He has equipped us.  In order to impact on our environment we must shine our light glorifying God in all we do. For many we are the closest to Jesus they will get and it is of utmost importance we reflect His goodness, His mercy and His love.

Devotional 2018 - Week 26

John 14: 27 (NIV)

"All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

When Jesus left this earth he promised his disciples that though he would be departing, The Holy Spirit would be with them. At this time the disciples were anxious and worried. Jesus tried to put their minds at ease, giving them comfort. Amidst the chaos and calamity in this world, God brings peace and love. We can trust Him with our everything as He will never fail us. When we face challenges and times of uncertainty, God brings stability, understanding and comfort.

Devotional 2018 - Week 22

1 Thessalonians 5 vs 1 to 8

"Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.  But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.  For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet."

We must be ready for Jesus' second coming. He will come at a time we least expect.  Are we prepared? Are we doing all God has called us to do? Is our focus on ourselves, our personal needs and desires or are we focusing on God's heart?

Devotional 2018 - Week 21

Luke 1: 38 (NKJV)

"Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord, Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her”.

In this verse of scripture, we see the highest form of SURRENDER to God that a woman of God, a daughter of the King of Kings, can exhibit. We see Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ typifying for us what it means to be a YIELDED vessel in God’s eyes.

This kind of SURRENDER involves the SUBMISSION of our very wills to God. It requires that you and I “relinquish all rights to direct the course of our own lives”. When we do this, we are saying just like Mary said that God knows what is best for us, and that we give Him control. He is now in control of our lives, not you or me.

Devotional 2018 - Week 20

James 1: 5-8 (NIV)

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do."

Godly wisdom has little to do with intelligence as the world views it. It is not based on qualifications, a person's profession or social status. It is God given to those who ask with the right heart and can be trusted to do good with it.

We require wisdom to walk as God intended us to; in love, in grace, in patience and in boldness. Where we are lacking, we can ask God to fill us up.  God is able to do all things once our heart and motive for asking aligns with His Word. Our need for wisdom should be because we want to fulfil the purpose God has for us, because we want to make the correct choices for ourselves and our family members
