Devotional 2019 - Week 4

Psalm 91:14 to 15 (NIV)

Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

In this day and age there are many reasons as to why we can be distracted from spending time communing with God; praying, reading the bible, sitting still in His presence. Some of those reasons may not be wrong in themselves but they are distractions. As women we tend to be busy taking care of our home, our families, dealing with practical and administrative tasks. It can be rather overwhelming at times.

In all of this we should still accommodate time for God, whether it be as soon as you wake, on your commute, in a quiet room at lunchtime or just before you go to sleep. Even when we are not in a position to read our bible or pray we can still quietly medicate on the word and speak to God in our hearts.

Psalm 91 verse 14 to 15 states that God will take care of those who acknowledge Him. This requires us to seek a relationship with God.  This requires us to prioritise spending time in God's presence. We must go further than just having the intention to do so, we must be willing to put it into practice.

Jeremiah 29 verse 13 states that we will find God only when we seek Him. The responsibility lays with us. God does not move, it is us who choose to move away from Him when we feel condemned, unworthy and challenged.

Endeavour to seek God with all your heart. Look at your schedules and purposely slot in time to read His word, speak to Him and to listen.  Choose to make God your focus.
