Devotional 2017 - Week 11

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding."

Trusting the Lord:

Trusting in the Lord is the reaching out and anchoring of ourselves in God. Trust looks beyond our circumstances, our difficulties, and sees God as our all sufficient help at all times.

When we trust the Lord like it says in Proverbs 3: 5, certain things happen:

There is no fear. Fear gives way to assurance in God. There is no worry. Trust in the Lord takes away our anxiety. Trust brings confidence that God is in control. There is no murmuring when we trust the Lord. When we trust it is easy to praise. When we trust, our hearts are full of thankful appreciation.

In trusting God, there is peace, the peace of God that passes all understanding and brings calm to our souls. There is no doubt in trust. Doubt is swallowed up in the assurance we have in God. Trust means we submit to God and what He wants. Trust means we obey God even when we don’t understand. Trust means we patiently wait for God. Trusting God is active.

Dear sisters our heavenly Father loves us so much, so we can trust Him. His thoughts towards and plans for us are good ones, so we can trust Him. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him, so we can trust Him. His ways are not our ways, they are so much higher than ours, so we can trust Him. His Word that has proceeded from His mouth can never return to him void, so we can trust Him. He will never leave us nor forsake us, so we can trust Him.

Let’s ask Him today to help us trust Him more than we have ever done before by the power of the Holy Spirit. We will find rest for our souls and strength for the journey as we do so and begin to trust Him implicitly no matter what our physical realities show us on a daily basis.
