2016 - Week 38

2 Corinthians 9 verses 5 - 8 (NKJV)

“Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Our God is a cheerful and generous giver. He is always giving to us children. Giving is His speciality. He gives to us because He loves us.

The same way as a “chip off the old block”, He calls us to give. He calls us to be generous and cheerful givers. Giving of our time, our money, our talents, our material resources, our gifting, and our expertise to Him, and to others. He blesses us with whatever we have so we can be a blessing to others.

God is not a hoarder, so we can’t be hoarders. God is not miserly, so we cannot be miserly. God is not selfish so we can’t be selfish.

It brings Him joy to give to us His daughters and see us blessed. When you give to others and see their lives enriched by your giving, the joy of the Lord is released in your life. Giving blesses others, but it also blesses you, and even your generations to come.

When we become habitual cheerful and generous givers, God supernaturally meets our needs and blesses us beyond our needs so we can be a blessing to others.

My dear sister, choose today to live beyond yourself and embark on a journey of radical giving. Don’t wait to be asked, go ahead and give and keep giving.
