I joined the Belmarsh Prison Ministry in February 2008 and Sister Susie joined in 2008. We have been attending prayer meetings which are held on the first Wednesday of every month since 2008, at Emmaunel Baptish Church in Thamesmead. We receive monthly prayer request from the Christian Prison Chaplin and we pray for individual inmates prayer requests, Christian and other rehabilitation programes ran within the prison, the work of the chaplancy, the prison staff, board of governors, the nation as a whole and as the Holy Spirit directs.

When we started the ministry we had our pre-conceived ideas of going into the prison to fellowship, share the words of God with the inmates and even getting the church worship team involved on occasions to minister in songs. We found out that the Ministry was prayer based and not about ministering inside the prison. Consequently some who join the Ministry with our kind of ideas fell by the way side but as God has called us and given us the heart for this Ministry, we continued supporting Belmarsh with prayers. Encouraging are feedback when prayers are answered.

Late last year (2009) my security clearance came through and I was able to fellowship with the inmates at their Christmas carol on the 18th of December. The Chapel was packed and it was so amazing to see so many inmates come to the Lord and also of particular blessing was a drama presentation by the inmates depicting a new life in Christ. On Sunday the 10th of January 2010 the Lord gave another opportunity to fellowship and pray with the inmates in the prison chapel.

We believe that the Lord will open more door of opportunity as we are trusting to help with the work of mentoring and re-settlemt of ex-offenders into the community.

Please support this Ministry with prayers as we continue to press on.
